Covenant Christian Academy of Chicago |
Parent Involvement Program
The rationale behind Covenant Christian Academy's parent
involvement program is the belief that the existence of a vibrant
Christian school depends directly upon the willingness of the parents to
contribute to the work of building and enriching their children's
educational community. We also believe that to maintain a healthy school
community, the parents need to be in regular fellowship with one
another-so that they can guide the school with collective wisdom.
The shared experience of relating to one another as children and parents
in a school community is strengthened when the work is shared by all
those involved. The parent involvement program places structure to the
need the school has for the body of Christ to contribute its gifts and
talents to this enterprise-instead of leaving the "volunteer" tasks to
just a few. This is a concrete acknowledgement of what we confess that
education is a parental responsibility.
Parent Involvement Commitment
There are two portions to the commitment that parents make when they
enroll their children at Covenant Christian Academy of Chicago:
1. Every household commits to participating in the parent
fellowship meetings. There are eight (8) scheduled meetings annually;
the dates of which are provided to parents upon acceptance.
2. Contribution of time/talent. Each parent at Covenant Christian
Academy will have different gifts and talents; therefore, we honor
parents' own choices for involvement. Parents are asked to keep track of
their own hours and report them to the school office. The school will
periodically advise parents of the record of their hours and notify them
if they fall below their committed level of involvement.
Opportunities for Involvement
Parent involvement opportunities are varied and numerous. They include
serving on the board and subcommittees thereof, helping in the office,
planning field trips and other school events and assisting teachers in
the classroom. They may also include such things as performing telephone
or clerical tasks at home or providing childcare to free others to take
up their parent involvement responsibilities. Whether performed at
school or at home, parent tasks give us all the opportunity to share a
part of ourselves with other families in the school community. Please
let us know how you would like to participate. Involvement opportunities
are advertised in August and matched based on each family's interests
and abilities.
